In a defeat for environmentalists, justices say sonar does not have to be turned off when whales are near. Foes say sonar panics whales, makes their ears bleed and may spur them to beach themselves.
I disagree with your comments on only the middle class spend money and not the fat cats. This will be the first year that we will earn more than $250,000 but I am not going to deny that we arent rich. We still go out at least two times a week for dinner, spend money on our home and take a weekend trip once a month. We are planning to move and buy a new house in the next year. All of this helps the economy.
The reason that we are making this much money is that my husband works very hard to earn it. He works 60+ hour weeks, travels 75-80% at a time. This week he is in Chicago Monday and Tuesday, comes home Tuesday night at midnight and then he is off to NYC for two days and then to Atlanta for Friday. He doesnt clock in and out with only 40 hrs a week. His company has grown from 5 employees to 150 in 4 years and are forecasted to grow to 250 in two years. He has a huge responsibility in that company. If he doesnt generate do his job and new business all those employees will lose their jobs. Half of them have bought a house in the last few years which again is good for the economy.
Most of his income is based on profit sharing which is for all employees not just executives. Obama's tax plan will increase their corporate tax significantly which is less available to profit sharing to people that have earned it.I think its a misconception that the "Fat Cats" are tight with there money but I dont think trickle down economics work either. We need to increase our tax revenue but I think it needs to be an equitable plan. Most of my family and friends are in the middle class and they have had to cut back significantly. We didnt get an incentive check which we would have spent because that is what is was meant for but I'm not upset that we didnt get that check. I dont know of any of my friends and family that got an incentive check that didnt put it in savings which was best for them.
Why should we be punished for working hard and making sacrifices to live the American dream?
